h_da and EUt+ present their research at top-class conference "curious 2022"

From July 12th -14th , some of the leading scientists worldwide gathered in Darmstadt for the „curious 2022“ conference, organized by Merck. Its speakers include several Nobel price laureates. Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) as a member of the European University of Technology (EUt+) used this opportunity to present their competences in research and transfer activities. Interested participants could approach the partners via an on-site booth as well as via a digital presence.
The Merck conference "curious 2022" with the motto „United by science for a better tomorrow“ aimed to bring together bright minds of the scientific and economic sphere. It claims to be one of the world's leading gatherings on the future of science and technology and takes place at the conference center „darmstadtium“ as well as online. Speakers include several Nobel Prize laureates like Stefan Hell (Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry), Brian Kobilka (Stanford University School of Medicine) and Ada Yonath (Weizmann Institute of Science). It also features a speech of Özlem Türeci, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of BioNTech SE.
The conference gathered around 1.300 science and technology focused guests and also featured the award of the „Future Insight Prize“ with a 1,000,000 EUR research grant. The focus was on the topics health, nutrition, synthetic biology, materials, energy, digitalization, mobility, human mind and new ways of working together.
Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and EUt+ was represented mainly by representatives of the Service Center Research and Transfer that coordinates knowledge and research transfer at h_da and is the first point of contact for institutions or businesses interested in joint research projects. Information about PhD Programs at h_da was also provided. Dr. Jorge Medina, the coordinator for EUt+ at h_da, was on site to inform about joint research on the European level – for example about the growing number of EUt+ research institutes: Five common institutes will be established for joint research in the fields of sustainability, nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, European culture and technology, pedagogy and data science.
